Ali Sanchez News: Lands deal with Mets
Sanchez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
After clearing waivers Thursday and electing free agency, Sanchez was able to find a new organization quickly. The 28-year-old has spent time in the majors with the Blue Jays and Red Sox this season, producing a .227/.227/.318 batting line over 22 plate appearances in nine games. He'll report to the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse and will bolster the organization's catching depth while Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is on the shelf.
