Kevin Herget News: Heads to free agency

Herget elected free agency Monday.

Herget was booted from the Mets' 40-man roster Saturday, and rather than accept an assignment in the minors, he'll test the open market. He appeared in seven games across stops with Atlanta and New York during the regular season, posting a 2.77 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across 13.0 innings.
