Orelvis Martinez Injury: Booted from 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Martinez (undisclosed) for assignment on Thursday.

Martinez was once viewed as one of Toronto's top position prospects, but he's struggled to bounce back since receiving an 80-game suspension last June for violating baseball's performance-enhancing drugs policy. He had spent the entire 2025 season at Triple-A Buffalo, posting a middling .636 OPS with Triple-A Buffalo before landing on the 7-day injured list Sept. 3 due to an unspecified injury. Martinez will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Toronto reinstated Alek Manoah (elbow) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
