2019 Fantasy Outlook
Barraclough went from future closer to current mess over the span of a year. Truthfully, Barraclough has regressed each full season in the big leagues as his K-BB% has plummeted from 23% in 2016, to 13% in 2017 and 11% last season. He still has an above-average strikeout rate, but it was only that insane 37% rate in 2016 that made the continually high walk rate tolerable. Now that his strikeout rate is in the mid-20s, the walk rate in the mid-teens is not high-leverage worthy. There are times when his repertoire looks absolutely unhittable, but they come amidst longer bouts of wildness where Barraclough struggles to command his pitches and the catcher spends the outing reaching back for pitches or attempting to block bouncing sliders. He could be a future closer, or could be out of the game in two years if he can't throw strikes more consistently. Read Past Outlooks
