Cincinnati Reds AAA
2018 Fantasy Outlook
When the Reds acquired Davis in the Aroldis Chapman panic dump, he had been throwing 95 mph in the Yankees' farm system. In the Reds' organization his fastball instead averaged 92.4 mph, and with that came poorer results. As with many other Reds starters (Homer Bailey, Robert Stephenson most notably), Davis' fastball provided especially dismal outcomes at the major-league level. That's a tough way to make a living in the majors, even if you have a plus curveball, as Davis does. Hence, Davis ended up with an 8.63 ERA in seven big-league appearances (but hey, *only* a 7.20 FIP!) . He underwent hip surgery over the offseason but is expected to be ready for spring training. It's unlikely he'll have a big-league role to return to, barring a repeat of 2017's cataclysmic wave of starting pitcher injuries. Read Past Outlooks
