Pat McCoy

After posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB ratio in 31.1 innings with Triple-A Toledo, McCoy was called up to make his big league debut with the Tigers last season. McCoy’s fastball settles in around 91-92 mph, but he has shown the ability to reach back and hit 94 mph on occasion. While he uses primarily his fastball, McCoy also mixes in a mid-80s slider and the occasional changeup. McCoy struggled mightily against righties (.432/.543/.457), which indicates he’s most likely to be deployed as a LOOGY going forward. The Orioles claimed McCoy off waivers this offseason, and he’s expected to battle for one of the team’s final spots in the bullpen come spring training.
