Marshall doesn't have any truly plus offerings, but he offers a mix of four decent pitches that could help him find value as a future back-end starter. The Yankees squeezed him from the 40-man roster in December, but Marshall landed with the Cubs, where he may end up making a handful starts at some point in 2014.

Marshall (finger) has increased a throwing program recently, throwing from 90-to-120 feet. "I'm moving faster because it's not an arm issue. It's just a finger issue," Marshall said on Thursday. "My arm is in shape. I was able to keep up my exercises and do everything but throw. Everything feels good."
