The Reds designated Marshall for assignment Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Seven starts were all the Reds needed to see to make a decision on Marshall, who walked a whopping 27 batters in 21.1 innings after returning from a finger injury. The 24-year-old right-hander does not have overpowering stuff (7.2 K/9 in minors) and appears destined to play out the year as organizational depth at Triple-A Louisville.

2014 Fantasy Outlook
The 23-year-old Marshall appeared to take a step back in 2013, putting up a 7-10 record with a 5.13 ERA with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Marshall doesn't have any truly plus offerings, but he offers a mix of four decent pitches that could help him find value as a future back-end starter. The Yankees squeezed him from the 40-man roster in December, but Marshall landed with the Cubs, where he may end up making a handful starts at some point in 2014.
