An elbow injury in April cost Caridad most of the season, though he did make a brief and ineffective stint with the Cubs in September. Caridad has passable command and can miss Triple-A bats on occasion, but he was awfully hittable in the high minors (17 homers, .322 BABIP in 131.2 IP in 2009). He'll battle for a middle-relief role this spring.
