Espinosa, a former closer in Cuba's National Series who defected in 2009, signed with Tampa Bay and had a 4.83 ERA at Double-A and then gave up 10 runs in 11.2 innings in the Arizona Fall League. His strikeout rates and control were underwhelming, but perhaps he needed time to get acclimated to playing in the U.S. He'll likely begin this season at Double-A.
