RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Mike Papi.
Contrary to his numbers, Papiís hit tool is his strongest asset. Taken with the 38th pick in the 2014 draft, the 6-foot-3, 195 pound outfielder will likely pick up where he left off in 2014 at Low-A Lake County. Last season he might have displayed a little too much patience at the plate, posting a 15.8% walk rate in 39 games at Low-A en route to a .305 OBP, despite hitting below the Mendoza Line (.178). Papi should split time between Low-A and High-A during his age-22 season, as he looks to start putting up numbers that are more in line with the expectations of his offensive profile. For now though, a lot of projection is needed to view him as more than a second-division player, and someone that fantasy owners will not need to worry about for some time.
