Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
After making his major-league debut in 2017 as a 32-year-old, Bibens-Dirkx returned to Triple-A to begin the 2018 campaign. He was promoted to the big-league rotation at the end of May to replace the injured Matt Moore, but was quickly sent back to the minors after getting roughed up in a pair of starts (eight earned runs in 11 innings). He continued to bounce between Triple-A and the majors throughout the remainder of the season, making four additional starts and seven relief appearances for the Rangers (posting a 6.09 ERA during that stretch) before undergoing season-ending knee surgery in mid-September. Bibens-Dirkx is expected to be fully healthy for spring training, though he seems likely to open the 2019 campaign in the minors. Even if the right-hander finds himself back in the majors, it would be unwise to expect anything from him given his 5.27 ERA and 5.6 K/9 over the past two seasons.
