RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

The 21-year-old righty came over from the Giants in the Matt Moore deal and has some long-term potential as a three-pitch hurler with solid control. Santos was impressive for Low-A Augusta in the Giants organization, going 4-2 with a 2.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. His impressive command was evidenced by a 44:5 K:BB ratio, and an ascension to High-A is likely in 2017. Rays minor league hurlers who put up those types of numbers are worth watching for long-term fantasy planning.
The 20-year-old Dominican jumped from rookie ball to Low-A Augusta in 2015 and the results were so-so. In nine starts with the GreenJackets, Santos posted a 3.44 ERA with modest strikeout and walk rates. Looking at his stuff; his fastball hovers anywhere from 89-94 mph and he also features an above-average slider. Santos is a bit lanky at 6-foot-4, 170 pounds, which could have his career trend in the direction of a reliever. As of right now, he projects to be a back-of-the-rotation starter or a mid-inning reliever.
