2024 Fantasy Outlook
Stevenson joined the big league roster in September with the Twins thin in center field but hit just .189/.250/.216 across 40 plate appearances. He was very productive at Triple-A with a .916 OPS, 16 homers and 44 stolen bases. He's just never been able to make enough contact in the majors (career 27.4% K%) for a speed-first player without huge power. He'll have fantasy value if he gets extended playing time in the majors due to his speed, but his best chances at a regular major league job may have passed him by since he'll turn 30 this season. Joins Japanese team
Stevenson agreed to a contract Wednesday with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson, 29, is a career .243/.316/.352 hitter over parts of six seasons in the majors. He can play all three outfield spots and undoubtedly got a nice bump in pay to head overseas.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
2016
Stevenson's .367/.486/.467 slash line in 37 plate appearances in 2019 was clearly a small-sample blip fueled by his .579 BABIP, so it's no surprise he began 2020 very low on the depth chart, appearing in just three games before mid-September. He got his chance late in the year when Adam Eaton went down with a broken finger, however, and went on to produce an even better line, hitting .366/.447/.732 in 47 plate appearances. A clearly unsustainable .464 BABIP again drove those numbers, though he was indeed making good contact. His 92.2 mph exit velocity was within 0.1 mph of the likes of Matt Olson and Juan Soto, and Statcast gave him a .293 xBA and .466 xSLG. Expecting a player who looked like a bench bat as a prospect to hit like those two over the course of a full season is outrageously optimistic, but he at least moves into lottery-ticket territory if he opens the year with a clear starting role.
