RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Greifer Andrade.
Signed out of Venezuela for just over $1 million, Andrade’s eventual position is still up in the air. Last year he played 27 games at shortstop, 18 games at second base, and 14 games at third base in the Dominican Summer League. Players who are going to end up at shortstop typically are not playing other positions already as an 18-year-old, and assuming he adds some muscle to his 6-foot, 170-pound frame, third base seems like the best bet for Andrade long term. His ability at the plate, however, appears to be much less vague. He slashed .307/.369/.409 with three homers and six steals while posting a 39:16 K:BB in 258 plate appearances. Andrade should head stateside for an assignment to the Arizona League or short-season Everett in 2016. In a very weak Mariners system, this is a player with some upside to watch in the lower levels.
