Tallet got cuffed around pretty good in 35 appearances (five starts) for the Jays last year. He did limit left-handers to a .176/.228/.343 line and has handled them well enough in the past to warrant consideration as a lefty specialist out of the bullpen. He signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals where he'll presumably get a chance to fill that role.
Tallet bounced around between the bullpen and starting rotation, recording a 1.500 WHIP and a 5.32 ERA in 37 games (25 starts). The Jays have a myriad of injury rehab projects or kids fighting for a rotation spot and plenty of cheaper bullpen options available this spring so don't be shocked if Tallet is non-tendered by the budget-conscious Jays. He's better suited for a relief role wherever he winds up.
Tallet had another serviceable year out of the Toronto bullpen, posting a 2.88 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. His ability to handle both righties and lefties make him more valuable to the Jays than your fantasy team. He'll be back in a relief role for Toronto.
Tallet spent most of the year in the majors in a middle-relief role. Given his size (6-7), one would think he could carve out a niche as a late-inning, drop-down lefty killer, but he performed poorly against lefties (.247 average against, 11 walks in 23.1 innings) in 2007 and seems destined for another season in middle relief.
Tallet struggled in a relief role with Toronto, posting a poor 37:31 K:BB in 54.1 innings. He's left-handed, which will keep him bouncing around the majors for a few more years, but there's not much here to like from a fantasy perspective.
Tallet had Tommy John surgery in August 2003 and should be considered back to where his career left off before surgery. The difficulty there is the Indians have a number of younger arms bursting onto the scenes and a guy like Tallet, who projects to be a swingman starter, may or may not make the cut. He'll be in the mix, but probably hasn't seen the last of Buffalo.
Tallet underwent Tommy John surgery late last season and will be longshot for June, at the earliest. It typically takes a full season for recovery, so we'll lean that way.
Tallet is a huge kid (6'7") who throws in the 90's and forces his slider into both RH and LH batters. He will have his struggles, but is definitely talented and will be in the mix for the Tribe's starting rotation. Tallet picked up his first major league win against the Red Sox in September at Fenway in his first big league start, pitching six shutout innings on four hits and three walks.
