Jace Fry
25-Year-Old PitcherRP
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Raise your hand if you saw this 33% strikeout rate coming before the start of the 2018 season? He struck out 27% of the hitters he faced in 2017, but that was in Double-A. Fry has a full bag of pitches, of which his breaking stuff is the best. Normally, someone with his repertoire would be left in the rotation as long as possible, but Fry is already a two-time Tommy John surgery survivor and is barely over the age of 25. He is staying in the bullpen and could be a sneaky source of saves late in the season if there are injuries or if Chicago deals some of its more established back-end arms. He has the skills, but the elbow only has so much left in it given the track record for pitchers with multiple Tommy John surgeries. Throw a dart in deep AL-only leagues and enjoy some strikeouts and ratios on the cheap. Read Past Outlooks

Mops up Tuesday's loss
PChicago White Sox
April 9, 2019
Fry allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one in Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Fry labored through 46 pitches in ninth-inning, mop-up duty and raised his ERA to 13.50. The left-hander has allowed runs in four of five outings and is unlikely to see high-leverage opportunities for now.

How does Jace Fry compare to other relievers?
This section compares his stats with all relief pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 30 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against this season's data (min 20 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
