Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Fry began the 2024 season as a short-side platoon bat for manager Stephen Vogt but started to earn some reps against right-handers, too, after sporting a 1.114 OPS through the first two months of the season. He ultimately did most of his damage versus left-handed pitching (.996 OPS, nine home runs), although Fry did smack a walk-off home run against righty reliever Clay Holmes in the ALCS. The 29-year-old played much of the year with a UCL tear in his right elbow and had surgery after the season. The operation will sideline Fry for the first month or two of the season and will prevent him from playing the field until 2026. Fry will have catcher, first base and outfield eligibility in 2025, so he could have some fantasy value once he's recovered. Read Past Outlooks

Activated from IL
The Guardians reinstated Fry (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Fry has spent the first portion of the season working his way back from an elbow procedure he underwent in November. He began playing in minor-league games May 13 and went 3-for-29 with a homer, five RBI and two runs scored during his nine-game rehab assignment. Despite his underwhelming performance, the Guardians feel he's ready to rejoin the active roster. Cody Bolton was designated for assignment to create room for Fry on the 40-man roster.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Fry was called up for the first time in his career in May of 2023, slashing .238/.319./.416 across 113 plate appearances. Fry is a backup option at best with limited fantasy appeal, though he does show some pop at the dish with a .178 ISO and 36.6% Hard Hit Rate in his limited major league experience. The 28-year-old may find himself back in the minors in 2024 as Cleveland signed veteran Austin Hedges to backup Bo Naylor ahead of the new campaign making him an avoid for fantasy managers even in multi-catcher formats.
