Trevor Crowe

Crowe enjoyed an increased role after the injury to Grady Sizemore but didn't do much with it, hitting just .251/.302/.333 in 122 games for the Indians. He did manage to swipe 20 bases so it wasn't a total loss. He'll be back as the team's fourth outfielder unless Sizemore is slow to recover and could be a source of cheap steals in an expanded role but offers little else. As the low OBP and SLG percentages suggest, he's better suited for a reserve role anyway.

Crowe bounced between Cleveland and Triple-A Columbus in 2009, hitting .297 with 14 steals at Triple-A but just .235 with six steals for the Indians. He'll have an outside chance at winning an everyday role with the Indians in spring depending on the health and position of Matt LaPorta but he's best suited for a reserve role.

A .323/.404/.485 start at Double-A earned him a midseason promotion to Triple-A, where he promptly hit four homers in his first 12 games. An ugly August hurt his overall numbers but he did finish with a .274/.350/.486 line at Triple-A. Speed is his primary fantasy asset but his totals have been trending downwards as he's moved up the chain. He'll need a strong spring or some injuries to crack the Opening Day lineup.

Crowe was a huge disappointment in 2007 as he struggled to find his swing for much of the first half of the season. He did salvage some of his season with a .314/.384/.428 line in the second half and finished with 28 steals, but it was still a step back for Crowe. A .329/.449/.470 line with 29 steals in 60 games for High-A Kinston back in '06 got everyone excited but he really hasn't hit much outside of that stretch. Grady Sizemore isn't going anywhere anytime soon and Crowe's bat won't play in a corner outfield spot unless he can take a step forward. He'll need a retrenching year to regain some of his prospect status.

In the Grady Sizemore mold, Crowe has made it apparent he is not far away from the big leagues. The former Arizona star rocketed through three levels last year, racking up huge numbers in the process. In 99 games last season, Crowe managed to hit .289 with 45 steals and 68 walks (to only 70 strikeouts) in 373 at-bats. If he can begin 2007 in Double-A like he began 2006, you'll be hearing a lot more about Crowe.

Selected out of Arizona with the 14th pick in the 2005 draft, Crowe had some adjustment issues in the Cleveland system in 2005, finishing his season with a 1-for-10 stretch in Double-A Akron. A full season in the organization will better display what the Indians believe to be a solid future center fielder.

In his senior season at Arizona, Crowe hit .403 with 54 RBIs and 83 runs scored. He stole 27 bases in 33 attempts, with 1.192 OPS.
