2024 Fantasy Outlook
Last year was an absolute nightmare for Manoah. After compiling a stellar 2.60 ERA and 307:91 K:BB over his first 308.1 major-league innings between 2021-22, the burly right-hander sunk to a 5.87 ERA and 79:59 K:BB across 87.1 innings in 2023 and was even demoted to the minors on two different occasions. He received injections for discomfort in his right arm toward the end of the year, which is about the only thing to point to for how he suddenly lost his fastball and slider command. Manoah, 26, might be the riskiest bet on the board this winter -- pitcher or hitter -- given the wide range of where he'll be selected from draft to draft and the wide range of possible outcomes for his 2024 stat line. We've seen what the fantasy ceiling looks like and how valuable Manoah can be as a front-line starter on a good Blue Jays team, but we also now have an unfortunate taste of his rather frightening floor. Will get another start
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said after Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Nationals that Manoah will remain in the rotation for at least one more turn, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After Manoah struck out 12 over six innings of one-run ball in the fifth start of his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo, the Blue Jays determined he was ready to return from a season-opening stint on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder inflammation. While taking the hill Sunday for the Blue Jays for the first time since Aug. 10, 2023, Manoah unfortunately reverted to the poor form that he displayed throughout last season, as he was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks while striking out six over four innings. Though Manoah remained plagued by spotty control (52 strikes on 92 pitches) and command, Schneider stressed that the right-hander's standing in the rotation wouldn't be determined by just one start. Manoah thus looks on track to get at least another opportunity to redeem himself, though it's not immediately clear when his next start will come. Manoah tentatively lines up for a home start next Sunday against the Twins, but the Blue Jays have off days Monday and Thursday and could get by with a four-man rotation until at least May 14 in Baltimore if they so choose.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not expected to be traded
The Blue Jays have been telling inquiring teams that they have no intention of trading Manoah, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Manoah had a disastrous 2023 season that ended with some shoulder issue, and his relationship with the Jays reportedly soured over how some things were handled, leading to trade speculation. However, Morosi says the right-hander's offseason workouts have gone well and Manoah is expected to be part of Toronto's Opening Day rotation. Manoah turned just 26 last month and his fantasy stock could rise if he looks good this spring.

2022
2021
2020
Manoah had a fantastic sophomore season embracing the role of staff ace and performing like one for those fantasy managers who took the leap of faith with the big guy. The strikeout rate was not as strong as hoped, but he cut down on his walks and was once again one of the toughest pitchers in the league to hit. The slider was once again his bread and butter pitch, but he can still overpower hitters with the fastball and the changeup took a very nice step forward in 2022 becoming more of a weapon against lefties than it was in his rookie season gaining some whiffiness along the way. He has never had a season at any level where he has worked anywhere near the volume he worked in 2022, but his physique could insulate him from the regression we have seen from other younger arms who have gone through similar workload spikes in their mid 20s. Quite honestly, that is the only risk here because all the arrows point in a positive direction for him this coming season.
