                  Analysis
Brown was attempting to secure a reserve outfield job on the Angels' Opening Day roster, but he has decided to end that pursuit in favor of spending more time with his family. Assuming he eschews any comeback attempts, he will end his career with a .220 average, 14 home runs and 45 RBI in 144 big league games.

The Rockies outrighted Brown off their 40-man roster last spring, and he signed a minor league deal with the Mets. He raked at Triple-A Las Vegas to earn a promotion, bouncing up and down between the majors and minors, before sticking in mid-June. Brown was mainly used as a pinch hitter but received a fair amount of playing time in August, going 14-for-42 with a pair of home runs and 11 RBI. He mostly rode the pine in September, though, and will likely move between the two levels again in 2014.
