Axel Sanchez

Even after some recent win-now trades and prospect graduations, the Mariners keep churning out exciting, young position players, and Sanchez is their latest success story. A true shortstop who already demonstrates plus power, Sanchez saw time at High-A early in the season before heading to the Arizona Complex League in June and getting a bump to Single-A at the end of July. With this promotion/developmental schedule in mind, we should focus primarily on what he did as an age-appropriate 19-year-old with Single-A Modesto. A .395 BABIP aided Sanchez's monster run for the Nuts, but his .305/.401/.618 slash line, .313 ISO and passable contact and swing-decision metrics made for an impressive final six weeks of the season. He has above-average speed, so it's possible Sanchez could develop into a starting shortstop who helps out across the board in fantasy. We don't have a large sample of dominance, so Sanchez could be a big climber or faller on 2023 prospect rankings.
