Past Fantasy Outlooks

2010
Loux spent the year at Double-A Frisco, earning Texas League Pitcher of the Year honors on the heels of a 14-1 campaign that saw him walk 41 and fan 100 in 127 innings. A first-round pick by Arizona back in 2010, Loux signed a contract with Texas later that winter after Arizona backed out due to health concerns surrounding Loux's elbow. His stuff doesn't scream "rotation anchor" by any means, but Texas has to be pleased with the investment to date thus far by the mere fact that he's been able to make 46 starts the past two seasons. Traded to the Cubs in November, we'll see how he fares at Triple-A as his peripherals have already started to retreat a bit at the higher levels.
Loux was the sixth overall pick in the June 2010 draft by Arizona, but was declared a free agent after he failed the team's physical. Signed by Texas over the winter, Loux made his professional debut at High-A Myrtle Beach, and the initial indications are good. He fanned 127 batters against just 34 walks in 109 innings, allowing just 106 hits and six homers. He faded a bit down the stretch, perhaps as a lingering effect of his injuries, and you would expect a pitcher with his pedigree from an established college program to excel against younger competition. The true test will come as Loux makes the jump to Double-A Frisco in 2012.
Signed a contract with Texas in November 2010 worth $312,000.
