A cranky left knee bothered Stewart all summer before the 34-year-old opted for surgery in September. He's expected to be ready for spring training, but there's a real chance he could retire if the chronic injury returns. Aside from an ability to hit for average in limited plate appearances, Stewart has never carried much fantasy weight. After batting .294 and .289 in limited at-bats in 2014 and 2015, respectively, Stewart saw his average drop to .214 in 113 plate appearances last year. He's hit one home run in three seasons for Pittsburgh. Those in fantasy leagues would be wise to consider alternatives before selecting Stewart.
