Designated for assignment
Moncrief was designated for assignment by the Giants, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants decided reliever Roberto Gomez was more deserving of a roster spot, so they made the swap ahead of Tuesday's game. Moncrief went 8-for-38 with one extra-base hit during his time with the Giants and he's hit just .257/.331/.409 in parts of three seasons at Triple-A.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
Moncrief has been making strides in his conversion from pitcher to outfielder over the past few seasons in the Indians' minor league system. In order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft, the Tribe added him to their 40-man roster in November of 2013. Making the move from Double-A to Triple-A last season, his strikeout rate soared to 24.5%, and he drew walks at the lowest clip of his career (7.2% BB%). If the roster in September is any indication, the organization is currently more confident in Tyler Holt's ability to handle big-league pitching than Moncrief's. He'll likely get another spin at Triple-A in 2015 with the hope of seeing his first stint in the big leagues if injuries deplete the team's outfield depth.
