According to the report, the Chunichi Dragons informed Guzman he'd be released at the end of this season, and Guzman then asked the team to let him go now. The ex-Padres prospect has been pitching in Japan since 2001. Guzman had gone 10-5, 3.76 in 23 starts in 2004 to help the Dragons win the Central League pennant. Over the past two seasons, however, he's pitched just 31 innings due to shoulder and elbow injuries.
