2017 Fantasy Outlook
Burgos has the stuff to be successful, but he needs to cut down on the walks. Last year, he posted a 5.0 BB/9, which was in line with the marks he's posted at every professional stop (Burgos's career low BB/9 was 4.5 at Low-A in 2012). With all the walks, it's no surprise that Burgos has compiled a 1.51 WHIP the last two years at the MLB level. There's no denying that Burgos has an electric arm. His average fastball velocity was 95.7 mph is 2015 and 95.8 mph in 2016. That heater helped Burgos post a 9.4 K/9 last year and he also picked up a save, but Burgos is simply too volatile to trust at the moment.
