High-A Eugene placed Pomares (quadricep/back) on its 7-day injured list Thursday.
Pomares sustained a quadricep strain late in spring training and was also dealing with a back issue, so he's a few weeks behind Eugene's other everyday players. He'll remain at the Giants' extended camp in Arizona before reporting to the High-A affiliate. The 22-year-old outfielder slashed .255/.322/.437 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI across 383 plate appearances with Eugene in 2022.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Pomares, who received just shy of $1 million out of Cuba as part of the Giants' loaded July 2, 2018 international signing class, was old enough (turned 19 in August) to bypass the Dominican Summer League and head straight to the AZL. He broke out in a big way, showcasing an excellent feel for hitting. Pomares sprayed the ball to all fields -- he loves going the opposite way -- while striking out just 15.6% of the time. He has a lean, 6-foot-1 frame, but is not as athletic as he looks, grading out as just an average runner. Pomares also gets poor grades for his defense and will likely end up in left field. Nonetheless, he could provide enough offensive value to profile down the defensive spectrum -- one scout gave him an Eddie Rosario comp. He struggled mightily in the Northwest League (27.4 K%, 1.6 BB%), so he is not a must-hold in dynasty leagues.
