Romak was acquired by the SK Wyverns of the Korean Baseball Organization in exchange for cash Saturday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis
Romak was mashing with Triple-A El Paso, posting a 1.192 OPS in 25 games with the Chihuahuas, and it seems the Padres opted to sell high on the 31-year-old. No word yet on how long he'll spend in Korea, but there's a good chance he'll get a decent amount of playing time in the hitter-friendly environment.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2009
2008
2007
Romak belted 25 home runs in 410 at-bats between High-A (18) and Double-A (7) in 2008. His lack of contact will hold him back, however. Romak's 49:127 BB:K ratio suggests that there's work to be done before he progresses to the high minors. The 23-year-old first baseman/outfielder got his first taste of Double-A ball last year and will likely start the 2009 campaign at the same level as well. Because of his power, Romak is worth keeping an eye on. Until he gains better plate discipline, however, there's not much chance of him cracking a big league lineup.
Romak smashed 20 homers and drove in 60 runs between two levels of Single-A ball in 2007. The 22-year-old Canadian slugger needs more polish but has a good bit of potential. Acquired in the Adam LaRoche trade, Romak hit 16 long balls in his professional season at Low-A in 2006. He'll need to gain better command of the strike zone as he begins his ascent up the organizational ladder - Romak's BB:K ratio was a poor 64:114 last year - but the potential is there. Romak represents one of the few legitimate hitting prospects currently in the Pirates farm system.
Traded to Pittsburgh in January of 2007.
