Jeff Ferrell

Ferrell is expected to be in the hunt for a bullpen spot with the Tigers in 2016. He's a fastball/changeup guy with good fastball command and a plus-plus changeup. The difference between the pitches is enough to keep hitters off balance. Ferrell can hit 97 mph with the fastball, but it settles in between 91-95 mph, while his changeup sits at 78-82 mph. His overall MLB numbers for 2015 are less-than-spectacular, but they were driven by his first four outings which were flat-out abysmal. In his last five outings, Ferrell gave up just a single run on three hits in 6.2 innings. He is working on a breaking ball that he'll debut in spring training, but he can get by in the bullpen with a two-pitch repertoire. Middle relief will be on tap to start, so his value is limited.
