Jim Adduci

Adduci spent another season shuttling between Triple-A and the majors, this time making the trek between Toledo and Detroit to appear in 29 games at the big-league level, his first plate appearances in the big leagues since 2014. True to form, he was passable against International League pitching, and while he could have been much worse when called upon by the Tigers, his .241/.323/.398 line wasn't enough to keep him on the 40-man roster through the entire offseason. Adduci will turn 33 in May, and when he blows out the candles on his birthday cake in the clubhouse, it's more likely to happen as a member of the Mud Hens than as a member of the Tigers, but the organization liked him enough to re-sign him to a minor-league deal in December. With an invite to spring training, he'll compete for a spot on the 25-man roster. Consider him a long shot as the Tigers will likely lean toward a younger option.
