Vitters signed a minor league contract with the Rockies on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Analysis
Vitters played both of the last two seasons primarily at Triple-A, but struggled in 2014 to the tune of a .213/.268/.339 batting line with 11 home runs and 38 RBI. There is no indication of whether or not his contract includes an invite to spring training but it could be a possibility. Either way, he will likely be organizational depth for the Rockies, given the plethora of players they boast in the outfield.

Vitters' third stint with Triple-A Iowa was his worst, and it may be time to stick a fork in him. That's sad when you consider he's just 25, but 2014 was his eighth professional season and he managed a 23:107 BB:K ratio and .607 OPS. His season ended prematurely with a broken finger, and given all of the depth the Cubs' organization has in the outfield, he'll probably have to find a new team to even have hope of returning to the majors.

Vitters worked with a sports psychologist in the offseason, ESPN Chicago reports. "I worked on my mental mindset to get to relax more when I’m playing so I’m not jittery. I learned how to find peace within myself."
