Rest-of-Season Projections

Butler (elbow) was outrighted to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Butler wasn't going to be a legitimate option for the club in 2015 after undergoing surgery in late May, so the Cards went ahead and bumped him from the 40-man roster in favor of catcher Cody Stanley. In nine appearances with Triple-A Memphis last season before going down, Butler allowed just one earned run while fanning 13 over 10.2 innings.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
Butler was in line to be a solid member of the Cardinals' bullpen in 2014 after posting a 4.05 ERA in 20 innings during the 2013 season, but early season struggles forced him to Triple-A where he appeared to be getting on the right track, posting a 0.84 ERA in nine appearances across 10.2 innings. In May, Butler began having elbow issues that eventually led to Tommy John surgery. He will likely be sidelined for half the season in 2015, if not longer, and is unlikely to provide any fantasy value in 2015 as a result of the lost time. The Cardinals outrighted him to Triple-A during the offseason, removing Butler from the 40-man roster.
