2013 Fantasy Outlook
The left-handed hitting Mattison spent the majority of his 2012 season in Triple-A, save for a short stint with the big club in May when he was hitless over five at-bats. His numbers regressed across the board last season, including a .241/.310/.394 line over 482 at-bats, though he provided a nice mix of power and speed with 13 long balls and 26 stolen bases. Speed on the basepaths is Mattison's best asset with 64 swipes over his past two minor league seasons. He needs to work on the efficiency of his running game, however, as the 68.4 percent success rate is not going to get him a green light at the major league level. Strikeouts are also a concern, and he'll need to improve his contact rate (70 percent at Triple-A) to fully utilize his speed.
