27-Year-Old CatcherC
Chicago White Sox
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lee served as the White Sox's primary backstop in 2024, but he struggled during his rookie campaign with 12 home runs, a .591 OPS and 31 percent strikeout rate in 125 games. His six stolen bases were solid for a catcher, but a .210 batting average and 4.3 percent walk rate limited his opportunities on the basepaths. Lee was never a world-beater at the plate in the minors with a .747 OPS, 30 homers and 25 steals in 195 career games at the Triple-A level, but the power and speed production showed some promise. He has a long way to go toward being fantasy relevant, and his opportunities could be limited in 2025 with prospect Edgar Quero poised to make his MLB debut. Read Past Outlooks

Knocks first homer
CChicago White Sox
August 25, 2025
Lee went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Monday in a 7-0 win over the Royals.
Analysis
Lee was called up from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, but he didn't get into any games over the weekend. However, the backstop was given a chance to start behind the plate Monday and made the most of the opportunity, crushing a two-run homer to left field in the fourth inning. The long ball was his first of the year in his 15th contest after he went deep 12 times over 125 games last season. Lee has hit pretty well with a .290/.353/.484 slash line during his limited time in the majors this season, but he doesn't figure to get much playing time with both Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero ahead of him on the catcher depth chart.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Lee was traded from the Astros to the White Sox at the 2023 trade deadline and played in 24 games down the stretch for Chicago. The 25-year-old struggled to get anything going offensively with a .077/.143/.138 slash line and 28.6 percent strikeout rate in 70 plate appearances, though he looked solid behind the plate. He had a .711 OPS in 82 games at Triple-A last season, and he hit just five homers compared to the 25 he slugged in 2022. Depending on the White Sox's offseason additions, Lee should have a chance to earn the start Opening Day in 2024, though he'd be a risky play for fantasy managers. As it stands, Carlos Perez and Max Stassi are his main competition.
Lee debuted for the Astros in 2022 and went 4-for-25 in 12 games. The acquisition of Christian Vazquez at the trade deadline ended any chances of the 24-year-old seeing significant action down the stretch for Houston. Vazquez has joined the Twins in free agency, but Martin Maldonado will be back for 2023, though it's his final year under contract. Maldonado continues to struggle at the play but remains strong as ever defensively, and he should operate as the Astros' primary backstop once again. Lee hit .238 with 25 home runs and 12 stolen bases at Triple-A last season, and he could open 2023 as Houston's backup catcher. However, fellow top prospect Yainer Diaz will be vying for the same opportunity.

Likely staying put
CChicago White Sox
July 23, 2024
According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, the White Sox aren't expected to consider trading Lee ahead of the July 30 deadline.
Analysis
The 25-year-old was acquired by Chicago from Houston at the deadline last year and is serving as the White Sox's primary backstop in 2024. Lee has struggled in his first full MLB campaign with a .608 OPS in 78 contests, and he's been particularly unproductive since the beginning of June with a .153/.187/.297 slash line and 34.1 percent strikeout rate in 118 at-bats.
