2023 Fantasy Outlook
His .233/.284/.433 slash line from last year may not jump off the page at first glance, but he's proven himself to be effective against left-handed pitching, as his OPS jumped to .805 against southpaws last season and .839 for his career. He's a below average defender, which hurts his ability to get playing time in a platoon. He's also had a hard time staying healthy, spending four stints on the injured list last season for calf, hamstring, rib cage and wrist injuries. He missed the second half of 2021 after sports hernia surgery. He's a player to use in daily leagues in a good matchup, but he may not get enough playing time to help in most formats. Headed back to minors
The Twins optioned Garlick to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.
ANALYSIS
The demotion of Garlick clears a spot on the Twins' 26-man active roster for infielder Royce Lewis (knee), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Monday's game in Houston. Following his call-up from Triple-A on May 19, Garlick had largely served as a short-side platoon outfielder for the Twins, appearing in five games while going 3-for-10 with a home run, a double, two walks and three RBI.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Garlick hit .232/.280/.465 in 36 games for the Twins in 2021, a lopsided line that was good for a roughly average 99 wRC+. He hit the injured list in early June with a sports hernia and wound up undergoing season-ending surgery. Garlick can feast on left-handed pitching (.567 OPS since 2019) which makes him a short-side platoon option, but his limited defensive range and struggles against righties make it hard for him to earn everyday playing time.
