Past Fantasy Outlooks
A 19-year-old outfielder out of the Dominican Republic, Molina is still mostly projection at this point. However, he might be the best athlete in the New York system, which is certainly saying something. His tools should be above-average across the board. His superb bat speed gives hope that he can hit 20 home runs one day. Molina cranked seven home runs in 49 games for Pulaski in the Appalachian League to begin the 2016 campaign. He also possesses the speed to steal double-digit bases. He got his first taste of full-season ball towards the end of the year but struggled in a limited sample size for Low-A Charleston. Molina remains raw, but his immense talent should catch up with his baseball skills sooner rather than later. He will likely continue his development at Low-A to begin the 2017 season.
Molina signed with the Yankees in 2014 as one of the top international prospects available, but he's struggled thus far in two seasons in the Gulf Coast League. After hitting below .200 in his first season, the 18-year-old slashed just .247/.290/.364 with 37 strikeouts in 48 games. He's still very young, so there's plenty of time for the outfielder to continue to develop despite the slow start to his professional career. The majors are still several years away, and Molina should get a chance to play in Low-A in 2016.
