Rest-of-Season Projections
Signed a contract with the Reds in January of 2021. Released by the Reds in March of 2026.
Inks deal with Reds
Valdez signed with the Reds on Friday, Baseball America reports.
Analysis
His bonus is expected be seven figures. Valdez is extremely toolsy, with 70-grade speed and plus raw power. However, his hit tool is a big question mark and it's possible he could fill out and slow down in the coming years. If he hits and maintains his athleticism, he could be a big-time fantasy producer.

Linked to Reds for $2 million
Valdez is expected to sign with the Reds for around $2 million once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
Analysis
From a power/speed standpoint, Valdez is one of the most promising prospects from this year's international signing class. The 16-year-old center fielder has plus-plus speed, a plus arm and a chance to hit for significant power. However, his hit tool and approach are still pretty raw.
