James Anderson breaks down this year's most notable minor-league assignments, including the Rangers aggressively sending toolsy infielder Sebastian Walcott to High-A as an 18-year-old.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Auer, one of the best athletes in all of full-season ball, has some similarities to org. mate Josh Lowe, in that he has extremely loud tools and it will come down to whether he can hit enough. Unlike Lowe, Auer bats right-handed and his strikeout rates have been a bit more tame, although he did have a 29.5 K% in 18 games in the Arizona Fall League. A center fielder with elite speed and arm strength, Auer stole 48 bases on 55 attempts while hitting 15 home runs with a .289/.371/.487 slash line as a 21-year-old at Single-A and High-A. He will be an age-appropriate 22-year-old at Double-A this year, which will provide us with a good idea of where the hit tool is at this stage of his development. Given his physical tools, Auer has significant fantasy upside, but there's a chance his stock takes a tumble after he faces the most advanced pitching of his career.
