2026 Fantasy Outlook
Peraza is coming to camp with the Angels hoping to earn a spot on the team with skills and not just because he is out of minor league options. Peraza offers the club some positional flexibility around the infeld as the team moves into the post Anthony Rendon era that actually began sometime in 2020. Peraza's most redeeming fantasy quality is his speed as he has swpied 20 or more bases in each of the previous six seasons in the Yankees organization. Yet, that skill has been extremely limited at the major league level since it remains illegal to steal first base as he has a career .260 on-base percentage in 180 games played. His speed and defense will likely keep him on the Angels roster because the organization is limited on options and loves these types of players, but only deep AL-Only leagues should consider adding him to a bench for 2026. Retreating to bench Monday
Peraza is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis
Peraza manned the keystone for 11 of the Angels' first 13 games, but he's been out of the picture since Vaughn Grissom came off the injured list Saturday. Grissom made a pair of starts against left-handed pitchers over the weekend, while Adam Frazier is at second base Monday against right-hander Will Warren. Peraza occupied third base in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Reds and came through with solo home run, but he's slashing an unremarkable .214/.267/.405 over 46 plate appearances on the season.

Peraza suffered a shoulder injury in February, which forced him to wait until May until he could make his season debut. By the time Peraza started heating up at the plate at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees had traded for Jazz Chisholm and had no place to play Peraza. He finished the season with only 11 plate appearances at the big-league level and is sitting on a lowly .612 OPS so far in the majors. Peraza is just 24, but it feels as if his window to make an impact with the Yankees might have already passed him by. He's out of options, so Peraza should make the Opening Day roster if he's not traded. A fresh start in a new organization might be best for both parties.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Working in outfield
Peraza has begun working the outfield after Pablo Reyes was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis
Reyes was DFA'd in order to make room on the 26-man roster for Giancarlo Stanton, who was reinstated from the 60-day IL. Peraza has played only at second base, third and shortstop at the major-league level, but his defensive versatility to play in the outfield in a pinch will give him staying power on the Yankees' roster. Peraza has appeared in 46 games for the Bronx Bombers this season and is slashing .160/.246/.292 with five doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI in 118 plate appearances.
