2024 Fantasy Outlook
Urias popped 16 home runs and won a Gold Glove as a semi-regular for the Orioles in 2022. He was used in a similar role for the American League East champs in 2023, but Urias' home run output was quartered and his defensive metrics also took a major hit. Where that leaves the 29-year-old heading into 2024 is uncertain, as Urias has seemingly already been passed up by some younger, more talented infielders and the organization also has more on the precipice. At his best, Urias has been an above-average hitter with an above-average glove. His fantasy appeal looks pretty limited, though, as he doesn't stand out anywhere and is facing uncertainty about his role. Read Past Outlooks
Nearing baseball activities
Urias (ankle) is progressing and said Friday that he's confident he'll play again before the end of the season, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He hasn't resumed baseball activities yet, but that could happen soon, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. Urias sprained his right ankle Aug. 31. The Orioles have been using a mix of Coby Mayo, Emmanuel Rivera and Nick Maton at the hot corner in Urias' absence.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
Urias produced a fairly average line last year, slashing .248/.305/.414 with 16 home runs, 51 RBI, 50 runs scored and a stolen base in 445 plate appearances. He was right in line with his expected metrics, and he played well enough to earn regular run at second and third base. Urias' future with the Orioles is likely dependent on how Gunnar Henderson settles in at the major-league level. Urias is entering his age-29 season, so there's not a lot of room for growth. His ability to make hard contact (45.1 percent career hard-hit rate) is his only real standout mark, but Camden Yards' spacious left field will likely continue to see him rack up doubles at the expense of homers. He does have versatility in his favor, which should help him maintain a regular spot in the lineup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Deadline move might be incoming
The Orioles would prefer to trade Urias and other veteran position players instead of top prospects ahead of Tuesday's deadline, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Despite winning a Gold Glove at third base in 2022, Urias has never hit well enough to maintain an everyday spot in Baltimore's lineup. He was the Opening Day starter at the hot corner this season, but he has just 42 total starts through the club's first 102 games due to the emergence of Jordan Westburg. Urias has a .236/.306/.369 slash line with four homers this season, and he's unlikely to significantly move the needle in trade packages despite being under team control for two more years after 2024.
