Tartamella's contract was selected from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
Tartamella has spent his entire career in the minors, batting just .203/.236/.246 over 40 games and 118 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis this season. The move was made following Yadier Molina's thumb injury, and he will now provide depth behind Tony Cruz and Ed Easley. Xavier Scruggs was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Tartamella is the definition of organizational depth, a decent catcher on the field but yielding nothing with the bat, as his .197/.251/.266 career minor-league line indicates. He'll likely continue to serve as the backup catcher for the Cardinals Triple-A Memphis affiliate in 2016.
