Allen Crabbe

Allen Lester Crabbe III was born in 1992 in sunny Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Allen Crabbe Jr. and Cheryl Price. His father, Crabbe Jr., played collegiate basketball at Pepperdine. Allen has an older sister. Crabbe stayed in L.A. for high school, attending Price High School, a private college preparatory school founded by his grandparents and aunt. He led the relatively small school to a Division IV state title. After his senior season, Crabbe received California state honors as Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year. After deciding to stay in his home state for college, Crabbe started all but one game he appeared in for the Golden Bears. He gave Cal a three-headed scoring monster with Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp fin his freshman and sophomore seasons. The 6-foot-6 guard took over lead scoring duties as a sophomore. He led the team with 15.2 points to go along with 5.6 rebounds and helped the Golden Bears back to the Big Dance, where they lost in the first round to South Florida. In his final season at Berkeley, Crabbe exploded out of the gates with a combined 60 points in the first two games of the season. He went on to score at least 20 points in 15 games and was named Pac-12 Player of the Year on the strength of his 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. The Golden Bears once again advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and Crabbe led the team to a first-round win over UNLV with 19 points and nine boards. The third team All-American was drafted by Portland with the first pick of the second round in the 2013 NBA Draft.
