House has been waived by the Miami Heat, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
This was a somewhat surprising move by the Heat, as they decided to let House go in the final year of his two-year deal. However, he did have an ailing knee injury that might have had something to do with his release. Regardless, the veteran guard now finds himself without a team going into this shortened season.

House will be back with the Heat this season, even though he is expected to miss the first few weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The 12th-year-veteran played in 56 games last season for Miami and averaged 6.5 PPG. He will likely continue to provide the Heat with that “spark” they need off the bench.
House will play the same role in Miami that he’s played for the bulk of his career – a source of instant offense off the bench. Problem is, on a team this talented, “instant offense” doesn’t figure to be a major need.
An energy player, House has shown some promise in his two seasons with Boston. The 10-year journeyman will have the occasional game where he catches fire from deep and puts up big numbers; however, it's not enough to merit fantasy consideration.
After signing a free-agent deal with the Celtics, House joins his eighth team in eight years. He will be assuming the “bench scorer” role in Boston that he has played so well elsewhere. He doesn’t collect many rebounds, assists, blocks or steals, but he can score, averaging 23.8 points per 48 minutes last year. If those ahead of him get hurt, House may be a decent short-term fantasy pickup for those in need of scoring, but without an injury he won’t play enough and doesn’t provide any sort of across-the-board contribution to warrant a fantasy look.
Playing for the Suns last season, House averaged 9.8 ppg and connected on 123 three-pointers. House never met a shot he did not like and has been known throughout his career for launching them deep beyond the stripe. He should be the Nets best scoring option off the bench and can be an instant offensive pick me up for the club if things are not going well. However, House is as streaky as they come and could hurt the team as much as he helps them.
House will mostly be used to provide depth at the guard position for Phoenix. While his overall numbers last year were pedestrian (4.7 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 rebounds in 11 minutes per game), he did a good job when given opportunities in Charlotte, where he averaged 11.1 points in 23.1 minutes per game and made 45.4% of his three-pointer attempts. The Suns' offense will give him opportunities to shoot, but his playing time may be very limited. In the event an injury or two strikes, House may merit consideration; otherwise, consider him too far down the bench for fantasy play.
House can score, but at 6'-1" he's a bit small for a shooting guard and not enough of a playmaker to get heavy minutes at the point. That said, if Quentin Richardson disappoints, House could get an opportunity. Not a legitamate fantasy option at the start of the season but worthy of a "sleeper" tag.
