Don’t look now, but Jones may be forced to play some minutes for the Pacers, who are thin at center. Depending on Jeff Foster’s health, Jones could be the only healthy backup center on the roster. He won’t be a consistent player from night-to-night, but Jones’ athleticism on the defensive end could translate into blocks and rebounds.

Jones is a defense-first energy guy that will occasionally come off the bench for the Pacers. It'll take a couple of injuries for him to play any more than 10-15 minutes per game.

Jones played in 35 games last season for the Hawks, averaging just 4.1 minutes per game. With the established veterans on the frontcourt, don't look for more than a few minutes a night.

Jones started eight games in his rookie season, pitching in as a center and power forward, but that might be more due to the health of the Hawks than to Jones' ability. He does have the rare combination of being a shot blocker who can make free throws, but with the crowded Atlanta frontcourt, his only chance to make an impact this year would be if Pachulia gets hurt and Horford proves too small to play center.

Like Shelden Williams, Jones was drafted to shore up the Hawks' gaping front line wound. He's a good leaper, who can rebound and block shots, but is no better than third on the depth chart at center.
