In addition to Kennedy, the Nuggets waived Axel Toupane and JaKarr Sampson on Saturday, leaving Jarnell Stokes and Robbie Hummel to battle for the 15th and final roster spot. Kennedy, who hasn't played at the NBA level since 2011-12, never had a great shot at making the Nuggets' roster and will presumably continue his career overseas.

Kennedy had a brief cup of coffee with the Cavaliers in 2011-12, but he's spent the last four seasons bouncing around between the D-League and several overseas clubs. The 26-year-old, who was a member this summer of The Basketball Tournament champions, Overseas Elite, signed a partially guaranteed contract with the Nuggets in August but is unlikely to make what will be a deep Denver roster. At this point, he appears destined to return to Europe or try his luck in the D-League.
