Roberts signed a two-year, $950,000 deal with Olympiacos B.C. in Greece, freelance reporter David Pick reports. The contract includes a $1 million NBA opt out in between the two seasons.
ANALYSIS
Roberts spent last season as Kemba Walker's backup in Charlotte, posting 3.5 points, 1.3 assists and 1.0 rebounds across 10.1 minutes per game while shooting 37.7 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from deep. The 31-year-old will test his luck overseas, with his contract structure giving him a shot at returning to the NBA during the 2018-19 season.

Roberts began last season in Charlotte before being shipped to Portland at the trade deadline as part of a package to acquire Courtney Lee. The Hornets opted to bring back the 30-year-old on a veteran's minimum deal this offseason, reinstalling him as the third point guard behind Kemba Walker and Ramon Sessions. While Roberts' per-minute numbers have always been strong -- 15.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds per 36 minutes last season -- his workload doesn't project to be nearly heavy enough to generate considerable fantasy value.
In his third season, Roberts recorded 6.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks in 19 minutes per game during 72 contests. He shot 39 percent from the field, 32 percent from downtown, and 89 percent from the free-throw line, starting 10 games during Kemba Walker's absence with injury. However, once Mo Williams was acquired mid-season via trade, Roberts' minutes and numbers nosedived. With the Hornets signing Jeremy Lin to replace the departed Williams, Roberts will face stiff competition for minutes as a backup ball handler in 2015-16. Now entering the final year of his contract, Roberts turns 30 in December.
After doing yeoman's work filling in for Jrue Holiday — but not receiving a qualifying offer from New Orleans — Roberts should seamlessly slide into the backup point guard role in Charlotte. Similar to last season, should Kemba Walker get hurt, Roberts will become a viable point guard option. Until then, he's really not worth keeping around.
