McCaw is the fourth of six children, and his dad has served as a high school coach at various area high schools. McCaw spent three years at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, before transferring to Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Maryland. He earned two letters at CBC, and was named first-team Metro Catholic all-conference as a junior. At Montrose Prep, McCaw averaged 13 points per game and led his team to a National Chrisitan School Athletic Association Division 1 Title. McCaw was named to the 2014 All-Gazette second team, helping his team reach a 20-5 overall record. McCaw moved on to the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the sight of his parents' honeymoon. College/International Summary

McCaw spent two years at UNLV, from 2014 to 2016, and he started 16 of the 32 games he played as a freshman. That season, he put up 9.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. As a sophomore, McCaw improved in nearly every statistical category. He averaged 14.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while starting in 32 of the 33 contests he participated in. His 2.5 steals per game ranked second in the nation and first in the Mountain West Conference. McCaw left UNLV at the conclusion of his sophomore year and declared himself eligible for the 2016 NBA Draft, where he was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 38th overall pick.

2020

McCaw has made three appearances so far this season and played a total of 19 minutes. The 25-year-old wing has registered a total of four assists and one rebound in his three showings, with his season high of two assists coming across eight minutes during a Feb. 24 loss to Miami. The UNLV product has yet to take a field-goal attempt to this stage of the season. McCaw's absence for most of the season has been due to his rehabilitation from knee surgery, but he has also recently landed in the league's health and safety protocols.

2019

McCaw enjoyed the most extensive playing time of his career during the 2019-20 season, averaging a career-high 24.5 minutes per game across 37 appearances (12 starts) for the Raptors. He responded with career-high averages in points (4.6), rebounds (2.3), assists (2.1) and steals (1.1). The swingman turned in his best production while seeing heavier minutes in late December and early January. He tied his career high with four steals in a start against Dallas on Dec. 22. Six days later, Dec. 28 against the Celtics, McCaw -- still in the starting lineup -- dropped a season-high 18 points with eight assists, seven rebounds and a steal. The very next day against the Thunder, he scored another 13, adding two boards, two assists and two steals. Then, on Jan. 8 against Charlotte, McCaw recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists as well as five boards and a steal. Knee issues and a broken nose cost him some time over the course of the campaign, with the knee ultimately keeping him on the sidelines during the NBA's seeding games and playoffs in the Orlando bubble.

2018

McCaw had a whirlwind 2018-19 campaign. After starting his career with the Warriors, McCaw was on the market for the first time as a restricted free agent. However, he didn't sign a deal with the Cavaliers until December. That was only a short stay for McCaw, however. After playing three games with the Cavs, he was waived. McCaw then signed with the Raptors on a new deal. The move led to a dip in minutes, as McCaw averaged 13.2 minutes per contest with the Raptors. McCaw took 2.1 shots per game with Toronto, averaging 2.7 points per contest. On Feb. 11, McCaw scored a season-high 11 points, to go with three rebounds and two steals, during a close home win over the Nets. On Mar. 10, during a win at Miami, McCaw posted 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists over 26 minutes of floor time. He appeared in 11 of Toronto's 23 post-season games and averaged 4.4 minutes per playoff contest as part of Toronto's title-winning squad. McCaw has won championships in all three seasons of his NBA seasons.

2017

In his second NBA season, McCaw served in a reserve role for the Finals-winning Golden State Warriors. The 22-year-old appeared in 57 games and made 10 starts. McCaw increased his playing time from 15.1 minutes per game as a rookie to 16.9 minutes per game in 2017-2018. His scoring stayed consistent at 4.0 points per game, though he did set new career highs with 1.4 assists and 0.8 steals per game. In his 10 starts, McCaw saw his playing time jump to 27.7 minutes per contest while he scored 7.6 points per game. He also averaged 1.3 steals per game as a starter as he developed a reputation as a strong defender. McCaw scored a season-high 18 points in just 20 minutes off the bench against Utah on Dec. 27. The UNLV product had two more games scoring in double figures, both of which came in starts. McCaw had a season-high eight rebounds in a win over Memphis on Dec. 20. He dished out a season-high seven assists in a loss to Sacramento on Nov. 27.

2016

Patrick McCaw settled into a depth role for the Warriors in his first NBA season, learning the ropes while complementing superstars like Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. The Dubs won a lot, and McCaw started 20 games in the process. He made his NBA debut on opening night (Oct. 25), adding two points and two assists in a loss to the Spurs. McCaw scored 10 points and grabbed a rebound in a win over Utah on Dec. 8. He was even better on March 2 against Chicago, accounting for 10 points while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out two assists. McCaw's best performance of the season came in a Western Conference Finals win over the Spurs, which saw him score 18 points while dishing out five assists and collecting three rebounds.

The 2018-19 season was a strange one for McCaw, as he was a restricted free agent until December. At that point, the Warriors finally waived their rights to McCaw and he ended up signing a free-agent deal with the Cavaliers. He was then waived by Cleveland shortly after before finally finding a permanent home in Toronto. McCaw ended up playing a fairly minor role for the eventual NBA champs, making 26 regular-season appearances and averaging 13.2 points per game, but he did parlay his effort into a two-year, $8 million contract with the Raptors this offseason. Now, with two crucial wing pieces in Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard bolting for Los Angeles this offseason, McCaw may have the opportunity to carve out a more consistent role in Toronto. He will, however, still have a decent amount of competition for playing time, with OG Anunoby and Normal Powell returning from last season and Stanley Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson joining the team this offseason. In the end, even if McCaw does end up being a regular, he likely won't produce on a consistent enough basis to warrant much fantasy consideration.
It’s rare for a second-round pick to play meaningful minutes as a rookie with any team, much less a team that reached the NBA Finals for a third consecutive season, but that’s exactly the situation McCaw found himself in with the Warriors in 2016-17. The Warriors clearly coveted McCaw during the pre-draft process, and ultimately ponied up $2.4 million to buy his rights from Milwaukee on draft day. McCaw went on to average just 4.0 points (on 43.3 percent shooting from the field), 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 15.1 minutes per game in his 71 appearances, but much like the elder teammate he’s often compared to (Andre Iguodala), the swingman’s value to the Warriors transcended the stat sheet. While filling in as a starter for the injured Kevin Durant for a large portion of the second half, McCaw provided quality defense and stayed within the flow of his offense, rarely looking for his own shot but keeping the ball moving nonetheless. Though McCaw’s path to major minutes is still blocked after Iguodala was re-signed this summer, the 21-year-old will likely absorb much of the extra playing time that opened up following combo guard Ian Clark’s departure for the Pelicans. It probably won’t be enough of an upgrade for McCaw to bring consistent Fantasy value outside of deeper leagues in 2017-18, but he carries more appeal in dynasty formats, given the likelihood that he settles into a starting role for the Warriors or as a sixth man once he reaches his prime.
