2019 Fantasy Outlook
Hutchison recorded averages of 5.2 points (45.9 FG%, 28.0 3P%, 60.5 FT%), 4.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.3 threes and 0.1 blocks in 20.3 minutes across 44 appearances in 2018-19. The 23-year-old wing is still rather raw overall, and his struggles from beyond the arc and as a playmaker (0.8 dimes versus 0.6 turnovers) may prevent him from taking on a more demanding role as a sophomore. Moreover, the presence of Otto Porter, who was acquired at last season's trade deadline but only appeared in 15 games with the Bulls, may very well result in Hutchison seeing fewer minutes in 2019-20. Given that Chicago is likely to be more competitive and potentially fighting for a playoff spot this year, Hutchison will have to earn every minute, whereas when the losses were piling up last season there was plenty of time devoted to his development. As such, Hutchison's fantasy value may be limited to the very deepest formats. Read Past Outlooks
$Signed a two-year, $4.32 million contract with the Bulls in July of 2018. Bulls exercised $2.44 million team option for 2020-21 in October of 2019.
Personal Bio

Hutchison was born in Mission Viejo, California in 1996 to Charles and Tanya Hutchison. The small forward starred during his last two years at Mission Viejo High School. In his junior season, Hutchison averaged 13.8 points and went all the way to the state regional quarterfinals. As a senior, he increased his output to 19.5 points per game and was named to the All-South Coast League first team. Heading into the 2014-15 college campaign, Hutchison was ranked as the No. 7 prospect in California and No. 19 small forward in the country. He received offers from several schools and eventually signed with Boise State. You can follow him on Twitter and Instagram (@cmohutchison).

College/International Summary

There isn't exactly a pipeline from Boise State to the NBA. Hutchison became just the sixth player to make his way from the Broncos to the league (with Gus Johnson and Chris Childs being the most established players in the pros). The 6-foot-7 forward was an understudy to James Webb III for his first two seasons. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.1 rebounds as sophomore, but he played just 19.8 minutes per contest. After Webb moved on (playing one season in the NBA), Hutchison took a starring role. As a junior in 2016-17, he led Boise State with 17.4 points and 7.8 rebounds. He had a streak of four straight double-doubles and compiled nine on the season. In the first round of the NIT, Hutchison scored a career-high 34 points in a win over Utah. The forward applied for the 2017 NBA Draft, but he decided to return to Boise. He had a stellar senior season and led the Mountain West with 20.0 points. In a win over San Diego State, the forward pumped in a career-high 44 points, including seven three-pointers. He also had a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Portland. While the Broncos failed to get an invite to the Big Dance, Hutchison put up 39 points in a first-round NIT loss against Washington.

To undergo season-ending surgery
FChicago Bulls
Out For Season
March 11, 2020
Hutchison (shoulder) will undergo arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to treat the acromioclavicular joint injury of his right shoulder. He will be out 12-16 weeks, which effectively ends his season.
ANALYSIS
Hutchison suffered the sprained shoulder in late November, appearing in just 19 contests since the injury. Ultimately, it wasn't healing as hoped, and he'll undergo surgery to address the issue. Given the recovery timetable, Hutchison should be 100 percent healthy by the time next season's training camp comes around.

2019

Hutchison appeared in 28 out of a possible 65 games for Chicago during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season. The 2018 first round pick averaged a career-high 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and a career-best 1.0 steal in 18.8 minutes per NBA contest. Hutchinson shot 45.7 percent from the field, and a career-high 31.6 percent from behind the arc. The young wing's most efficient month was November. That month he shot 45.5 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from three and 65.5 percent from the free-throw line. On Jan. 18, Hutchison swiped a career-high four steals during a home win over the Cavaliers. On Jan. 29, the Boise State product scored a career-high 21 points, plus added three rebounds and two assists, during a loss at Indiana. On Mar. 10, just before the sports stoppage, the Bulls announced Hutchinson would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. Shoulder issues forced Hutchison to miss games from late November through to early January. Hutchison had seven performances with at least 10 points and eight performances with at least five rebounds. In the seven games that Hutchison saw at least 23 minutes, he averaged 13.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals. Hutchison also played in one G League game for the Windy City Bulls. In that game, the young wing posted 14 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

2018

After selecting him 22nd overall in the draft out of Boise State, the Bulls rolled Hutchison out for 44 games in 2018-19 before a late-January toe injury ended his season. It was a tough break, as the rookie was just heating up, having posted a 12-point, 12-rebound effort (both season highs) against the Clippers on Jan. 25 -- which ultimately proved to be his final game of the year. On the whole, Hutchison operated largely in a bench role, averaging 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds over 20.3 minutes per night. He flashed the ability to make an impact despite limited court time on multiple occasions. On Dec. 30 against Toronto, he piled up 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting in just 14 minutes. On Nov. 12 against Dallas, he narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards in 18 minutes. An efficient shooter, he made 45.9 percent of his field-goal attempts.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Hutchison posted 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game as a senior at Boise State last season, carrying the bulk of the team's offense. Though he’s not a top-flight athlete, he's explosive enough to make hard drives to the basket and find success pushing the ball in transition. If he can continue developing his three-point shot, ball-handling and defensive versatility, he may turn into a quality role player in the league. To begin the season, Hutchison will be competing with Denzel Valentine and Justin Holiday for reserve minutes on the wing, as Zach LaVine and Jabari Parker are essentially locks to start at shooting guard and small forward.
