In Hutchison's third season in the NBA, the forward showcased his potential as an exceptional rebounder after getting traded from the Bulls to the Wizards. With the Bulls, Hutchison averaged 1.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 9.0 minutes. After getting traded, Hutchison saw many more opportunities and produced, as he averaged 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.5 steals with the Wizards. Overall the 25-year-old played in 25 games and saw an average of 13.8 minutes. Hutchison made 37.9 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the three-point arc. The former Boise State Bronco improved his free throw percentage significantly as it went from 59.0 percent in the 2019-20 season to 84.0 percent in the 2020-21 season. Hutchison's best game of the season came in his first game with the Wizards, as the ex-Bull notched a season-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds in a win over the Pacers on March 29. Another impressive performance came against the Pacers on May 3 as Hutchison recorded 13 points, three assists and three steals. The forward's defense proved to be good after he produced a career-best two blocks alongside three steals in a matchup with the Hawks on May 10. Hutchison appeared in 28 out of a possible 65 games for Chicago during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season. The 2018 first round pick averaged a career-high 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and a career-best 1.0 steal in 18.8 minutes per NBA contest. Hutchinson shot 45.7 percent from the field, and a career-high 31.6 percent from behind the arc. The young wing's most efficient month was November. That month he shot 45.5 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from three and 65.5 percent from the free-throw line. On Jan. 18, Hutchison swiped a career-high four steals during a home win over the Cavaliers. On Jan. 29, the Boise State product scored a career-high 21 points, plus added three rebounds and two assists, during a loss at Indiana. On Mar. 10, just before the sports stoppage, the Bulls announced Hutchinson would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. Shoulder issues forced Hutchison to miss games from late November through to early January. Hutchison had seven performances with at least 10 points and eight performances with at least five rebounds. In the seven games that Hutchison saw at least 23 minutes, he averaged 13.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals. Hutchison also played in one G League game for the Windy City Bulls. After selecting him 22nd overall in the draft out of Boise State, the Bulls rolled Hutchison out for 44 games in 2018-19 before a late-January toe injury ended his season. It was a tough break, as the rookie was just heating up, having posted a 12-point, 12-rebound effort (both season highs) against the Clippers on Jan. 25 -- which ultimately proved to be his final game of the year. On the whole, Hutchison operated largely in a bench role, averaging 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds over 20.3 minutes per night. He flashed the ability to make an impact despite limited court time on multiple occasions. On Dec. 30 against Toronto, he piled up 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting in just 14 minutes. On Nov. 12 against Dallas, he narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards in 18 minutes. An efficient shooter, he made 45.9 percent of his field-goal attempts.
