Following four collegiate seasons at South Carolina, Silva went unselected in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, he signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat on July 11. That was turned into a two-way contract on Oct. 19 and then was converted to a regular contract on Jan. 15. The big man made his NBA debut during the first game of the season -- a win over the Grizzlies on Oct. 23 -- recording eight points, six rebounds and a career-high three blocks in 11 minutes. He would reach that block mark again during a game against the Pacers on Aug. 14, where he also grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. On Nov. 23 against the 76ers, the rookie scored a career-high 10 points, dished a career-high three assists and also provided six rebounds, one steal and one block in 20 minutes. Against the Celtics on Jan. 28, Silva swiped a career-high three steals, also providing five rebounds and one point in 10 minutes. Silva also appeared in two G League games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. There, he totaled 23 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and one steal in 36 minutes. He shot 83.3 percent from the field (10-of-12) in that pair of contests.
