Following four collegiate seasons at Tennessee, Schofield was selected with the 42nd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He made his NBA debut with the Wizards the opening night of the season, Oct. 23 against the Mavericks. Across 16 minutes, he posted one assist. Overall, Schofield appeared in 27 games, averaging 3.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.1 blocks in 10.9 minutes. He shot 40.0 percent from the field, 29.8 percent from three and 69.2 percent from the free-throw line. Schofield set single-game career highs of 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, three three-pointers and one block. He had three performances with double-digit points, nine games with multiple rebounds and five games with multiple assists. He also had six contests with at least one steal and three games with one block. Schofield also played 33 games in the G League for the Capital City Go-Go. There, he averaged 15.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30.9 minutes.
